Sunday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 AM - Cloisters Medieval Festival – a Merlin meetup.

Let me know in the comments below if you are coming to this!

Our meetup will be at the Front Gate to Fort Tryon park in NYC at 11:30 AM for the Cloisters Medieval Festival. Here's a map.  For those who haven’t been before, it's similar to most Ren-faires: jousting, sword-fighting, plays, lots of things to buy, a parade or two.

And it is free! And it's a lot of fun. Really, it's well worth the trip!

Here's the link to the festival.  http://www.whidc.org/festival/home.html

Bring money for food and any baubles you want to buy. Also comfortable shoes since there is a lot of walking involved.

Pretty much, it's rain or shine. They've only cancelled once and that was for torrential rains. There will be crowds!

At the entrance, I will be wearing Merlin's feather hat and if it's cold, a red jacket so I should be easy to find. My cell phone is 908-331-3044. Hope to see you there!

For those who haven't been keeping up with the Merlin actors' new projects, Alex Vlahos (Mordred) was in the Manchester version of Macbeth, playing Malcolm in it. Kenneth Branagh played Macbeth and Alex Kingston (River Song) was Lady Macbeth. It got rave reviews.

Now I don't know if Vlahos will be in this production (although he says he will try), but it is coming to NYC in June, 2014, to the Park Avenue Armory. Branagh and Kingston will be reprising their roles.

Park Avenue Armory is located at 643 Park Avenue between 66th and 67th Streets

I plan on going at least once in early June. Tickets will not go on sale until 2014 but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Knocks on the glass to see if anyone is there.

Anyway.... I know this isn't Merlin but I figured some of you might be interested.

Apparently the Game of Thrones costumes and props are doing a fast tour.

The day was both bright and rainy but there was lots to do. Only one brave member showed up - hi unavee! (dame_margaret was also there but working in the SCA tent) but a couple of my friends (who are big fans of Merlin) and both my kids came to the Cloisters Medieval Festival. It was great. Lots of horse-riding, sword-fighting, costumes, food (the steak on a stick was great as were the cupcakes!) and just fun hanging around friends with lots in common.

We even talked about Merlin.

I stayed until the very end with my older daughter and as we watched the jousting, it got real. Two of the 'knights' got thrown from their horses at separate times. One person was limping but okay. The other one got up but went with the EMT people. Just goes to show that even people who are well trained can get hurt.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the day.

I want this costume.
